Rainy weekends . . .

are made for reading.

Hello everyone. I wanted to take a moment and catch up. I know reviews haven't been going up to quickly but I have been under the weather due to the weather. * LOL* We all caught a nasty cold and no sooner do I finally get to feeling better then Dragon finally gets it full blown and gives it back to me. So yes that is why I am up so late. He is sneezing his head off and I am just blah. It isn't a total loss though. I put down the Noah book and picked up an author that always makes me smile P.C Cast. I have now read her Divine series and it was good. I figured i would get through the first book and then go back to Noah but no she sucked me in and I don't regret it. I may change things up and review her series before the one I had planned. * hmmmm*

So wondering about the title to this post? Well we have four days of chances of rain and with me not being at my best I have a huge pot of Baked potato and ham chowder on the menu for dinner and nothing but lay in bed, read and feel better time planned. Blob time happens of course after home school time but still a whole night of warm soup, warm bed and good book. I should be back to awesome in no time. As long as Dragon doesn't sneeze on me. * grin*

I hope everyone had a good Labor day weekend. Nice long weekend off is always nice.

I also hope everyone is taking a moment today and remembering the lives that were and still are being affected by the attacks on this date eight years ago.

Lord's of the Underworld book Four

Author - Gena Showlater
Title -
The Darkest Whisper

Turns the book over . . .

Bound by the demon of Doubt, Sabin unintentionally destroys even the most confindent of lovers. So the immortal warrior spends his time on the battlefield instead of the bedroom, victory his only concern. . .until he meets Gwendolyn the timid. One taste of the beautiful redhead and he craves more.

Gwen, an immortal herself, always thought she'd fall for a kind human who wouldn't rouse her darker side. But when Sabin frees her from prison, battling their enemies for the claim to Pandora's box turns out to be nothing compared to the battle Sabin and Gwen will wage against love. . .

~Christi's thoughts~ THIS REVIEW CAN CONTAIN SPOLIERS! I will always try to not give too much away but you have been warned.

Finally she says the word series in her welcome!! Oh how I waited not only for this book to be released but for her to finally to say this is so much more then three little books this is a SERIES. Oh how happy that one little word has made me.

Sabin and Gwen... another my my my moment. I just love when a woman can make a head strong demon like Doubt go running for the nearest corner. I think all woman should hold that power. Hear me ladies? Be strong in who you are ,don't let doubt stand in the way of you and what you desire. Ok now that that is off my chest we can get back to Sabin and Gwen. They are truely what a couple should be, one partners weakness being the others strength, being able to bring eachother back to reason when we are so filled with rage, and being able to unconditionaly love eachother.

Gena introduces us to a new immortal , the Harpy. Sabin is with us on our journey of learning who and what a harpy is and surprisingly enough our teacher happens to be non other then Anya. Still not sure if she would make a good teacher but you would never be bored in her class... a little lost but never bored. Gwen, like the rest of our immortals, has rules she has to follow and Sabin is finding it hard to understand them.

This book is amazingly thin compared to the other three yet Gena gives us so much in it. We get to see Aeron and Legion again. I was not sure of where that story line was headed but I was very pleased it didn't go down the lovers road ... I just couldn't have truely understood that. I was also happy that Gena gave us a look at Cameo and Torin's story. I do hope to get to know more of that story one day. Paris is also here but this time he is not sure if he should believe what he sees but his heart sure wants him to. In the end though you will be handed something you never saw coming and it will hopefully have you drooling for the next book.

Gwen did a wonderful job with Darkest Whisper. I am looking very forward getting to know the rest of the Lord's but sadness.... the next book is not due out till Janruary. Until then I hope you say yes when asked ....

He can bear any pain but the thought of losing her . . .

Reyes is a man possessed by the demon of pain, he is forbidden to know pleasure. Yet he craves a mortal woman, Danika Ford, more than breath and will do anything to calim her - even defy the gods.
Danika is on the run. For months she's eluded the Lord's of the Underworld, immortal warriors who won't rest until she and her family have been destroyed. But her dreams are haunted by Reyes, the warrior whose seaing touch she can't forget. Yet a future together could mean death to all they both hold dear. . .

~Christi's thoughts~ THIS REVIEW CAN CONTAIN SPOLIERS! I will always try to not give too much away but you have been warned.

We meet Reyes on the roof this time. Just what is that man doing up there ... he is listening to Pain once again... JUMP! I know for a fact there is no way I could live with this demon... for my name and pain do not belong in the same sentence. I have no idea how I had children... oh ya the nice no feel the pain drugs I was given. *laughs* He however finds that he is not alone for long on his rooftop for Luicen comes to pry the where abouts of Aeron out of him. Areon the warrior who was told by the gods to kill Danika and her family. . . no Reyes knew he needed to stay right where he was.

We find Danika working as a waitress that soon finds herself the captive of the Hunter's who are offering her a way to save her family. . . only hitch. . . she gets to go back to her captors and Reyes.

Reyes tells Danika why they hunted her and her family. She is not quick to believe his story but is satisfied when Reyes offers to let her be present when he questions Areon, who is now in the basement of the house, about her grandmother, mother and sister. Danika is more torn on her captor and his brothers when she is reunited with her friend Ashlyn, who is now pregnant and very happily with Maddox.

Danika and Reyes have a very interesting love story. A love story that tugs at your heart. We also find that sometimes we can be stronger then we had ever imagined possible. Face and do things we once thought were impossible but we do them with love at our backs and not fear, Love of our family and those we hold dear.

Gena answers a lot of questions in this book but she also opens up a lot more. She does still call this a trilogy in her welcome , yet does add for us to stayed tuned for more adventures of the Lord's. When I finished this book I had yet to go surfing the web and was left frustrated with no closer. But alas I did find that book four was soon to be released and that there were so many more tales of the Lord's to be released next year. * yippie*

I feel you will enjoy this journey of pain and pleasure. Not only will you enjoy reading of Reyes and Danika but you will also meet other Lord's such a Sabin, Cameo and Strider. I can not wait for their tales. Can you? So have you answered . . .

Now they must defeat the unconquerable forces that control them, before their thirst for one another demands a sacrifice of love beyond imagining. . .

~Christi's thoughts~ THIS REVIEW CAN CONTAIN SPOLIERS! I will always try to not give too much away but you have been warned.

What a better partnering then death and anarchy. For without a little anarchy we would be borded to death. Ha ha I made a funny. * giggles* But seriously these two made the phrase playing cat and mouse seem tame. Gena gave us a little taste of life in the real world in this love story. Isn't it always the way it goes.... find a person we like to find we can't be with them for some reason or another, that there is always something making what we want hard to obtain. Luckily for Anya and Luicen the chase is pretty much foreplay to them both so it isn't all bad. I loved Anya's spunk. She borderlines a spoiled brat you wanna spank, oh wait she is spoiled and she does want to be spanked so I guess she doesn't borderline it huh. Anyways her bouncy, flirty personality had me laughing the whole time and made for not a dull moment.

In this installment we find out a little more about what it is the Titans are up to and that sends our Lords on a mission to find the items the Titan seeks first. One that may even put an end to the love affair we have been reading. We also get to see the love stories of Reyes and Paris take shape in this book. I can't wait to see where Danika's story takes us. Paris is in for bumpy ride as well I am guessing too.

All the action in Darkest Kiss has me begging for more. I am wanting to know: Do they find the treasures? What part does Danika and her family play in all this? Who is truely behind the want to distroy the Lord's? Does Anya give up what her father gave her AND does she come to hate or love the curse that was placed on her? You will find the answers to these and so much more if you answered yes to the most important question. . .

Neither can resist the instant hunger that calms their torments.... and ignites an irresistable passion. But every heated touch and burning kiss will edge them closer to destruction - and a soul - shattering test of love...

~Christi's thoughts~ THIS REVIEW CAN CONTAIN SPOLIERS! I will always try to not give too much away but you have been warned.

This book is a little misleading if you read the note Gena gives her readers in the begining of the book. She welcomes you to her new paranormal trilogy. I will tell you this it indeed is NOT a trilogy. I am guessing it has grown into more. I was a little dismayed when I finished the last book and was left with a story with no conclusion. I then used the net and found the fourth book being released soon (own it now) and more to be released next year. Three of which will be in one book and are available already from my understanding as ebooks. I have only read the ones that are for sale in bookstores and they include The Darkest Night, The Darkest Kiss, The Darkest Pleasure and The Darkest Whisper. These are the books of this series I will be reviewing. I will add to this list with the next release in Janurary 2010.

Now for The Darkest Night.

Oh My Gawd. Make sure you are ready for a fun ride of emotions. You will go from angry to needing tissues...this book has it all. I really have enjoyed this series and am totally bummed I have to wait till Jan. of next year to get another dose of the Lords. The story of these men now playing host to the demons that were once contained in Pandora's box and the internal fight they wage every moment is amazing to read.

Maddox who houses the demon Violence has an extra curse to his sentence. Every night he must die in the exact way Pandora did. He does not truely share this curse alone for two of his friends are always there with him... one killing him and one taking him to hell. Reyes who houses Pain and Luicen who houses Death are always there to carry out the curse. This time though there is another there to see the act carried out..... Ashlyn. She sees the man who had just rescued her murdered. She has no idea what she has gotten herself into. All she was looking for was the silence she found when she was near Maddox and now he was dead. The follwoing morning Maddox awakes to many things. One, he finds he could not stop thinking of Ashlyn , who he finds in a cold cell not in a bed like he had invisioned while in hell. Two, news that the Titans had overthrown the Greeks. They are now under the rule of a new set of Gods.

The story of Ashlyn and Moddox is intense. With so much going on in world of the Lord's you are in for a thrill ride. I recommend you have the second book with you if you are not good at keeping track of names for Gena has given a nice list of who's who in the back of The Darkest Kiss. Also if you find yourself getting totally consumed in the world of the Lord's like I did, you will in the end need a hanky.

I have spoke of this book so much in my house that now my husband is wanting to read it. It is a romance type novel but Gena has given such a great background story of Pandora's box and the men who hold the demons. I know this review hasn't given much on the goings on of the book but I honestly can't give details for every page holds a clue to the plot. Is Ashlyn bait? Will Aeron kill Danaka and her family? What are the Titans up to?

I am biting at the bit for the next installment of the LotUw. Like I said the story line is great and even if I was expecting the quick trilogy ending I am glad Gena is expanding the series and giving us a chance to know the rest of the Lord's. I hope my emotion is coming through your screen for I honestly feel you will say yes when you ask yourself. . .
