Turns the book over. . .
His Powers Inhuman
His Passion Beyond Immortal . . .
All her life , Ashlyn has been tormented by voices from the past. To end the nightmare, she has come to Budapest seeking help from men rumored to have supernatural abilities, not knowing she'll be swept into the arms of Maddox, their most dangerous member - a man trapped in a hell of his own.
Neither can resist the instant hunger that calms their torments.... and ignites an irresistable passion. But every heated touch and burning kiss will edge them closer to destruction - and a soul - shattering test of love...
~Christi's thoughts~ THIS REVIEW CAN CONTAIN SPOLIERS! I will always try to not give too much away but you have been warned.
This book is a little misleading if you read the note Gena gives her readers in the begining of the book. She welcomes you to her new paranormal trilogy. I will tell you this it indeed is NOT a trilogy. I am guessing it has grown into more. I was a little dismayed when I finished the last book and was left with a story with no conclusion. I then used the net and found the fourth book being released soon (own it now) and more to be released next year. Three of which will be in one book and are available already from my understanding as ebooks. I have only read the ones that are for sale in bookstores and they include The Darkest Night, The Darkest Kiss, The Darkest Pleasure and The Darkest Whisper. These are the books of this series I will be reviewing. I will add to this list with the next release in Janurary 2010.
Now for The Darkest Night.
Oh My Gawd. Make sure you are ready for a fun ride of emotions. You will go from angry to needing tissues...this book has it all. I really have enjoyed this series and am totally bummed I have to wait till Jan. of next year to get another dose of the Lords. The story of these men now playing host to the demons that were once contained in Pandora's box and the internal fight they wage every moment is amazing to read.
Maddox who houses the demon Violence has an extra curse to his sentence. Every night he must die in the exact way Pandora did. He does not truely share this curse alone for two of his friends are always there with him... one killing him and one taking him to hell. Reyes who houses Pain and Luicen who houses Death are always there to carry out the curse. This time though there is another there to see the act carried out..... Ashlyn. She sees the man who had just rescued her murdered. She has no idea what she has gotten herself into. All she was looking for was the silence she found when she was near Maddox and now he was dead. The follwoing morning Maddox awakes to many things. One, he finds he could not stop thinking of Ashlyn , who he finds in a cold cell not in a bed like he had invisioned while in hell. Two, news that the Titans had overthrown the Greeks. They are now under the rule of a new set of Gods.
The story of Ashlyn and Moddox is intense. With so much going on in world of the Lord's you are in for a thrill ride. I recommend you have the second book with you if you are not good at keeping track of names for Gena has given a nice list of who's who in the back of The Darkest Kiss. Also if you find yourself getting totally consumed in the world of the Lord's like I did, you will in the end need a hanky.
I have spoke of this book so much in my house that now my husband is wanting to read it. It is a romance type novel but Gena has given such a great background story of Pandora's box and the men who hold the demons. I know this review hasn't given much on the goings on of the book but I honestly can't give details for every page holds a clue to the plot. Is Ashlyn bait? Will Aeron kill Danaka and her family? What are the Titans up to?
I am biting at the bit for the next installment of the LotUw. Like I said the story line is great and even if I was expecting the quick trilogy ending I am glad Gena is expanding the series and giving us a chance to know the rest of the Lord's. I hope my emotion is coming through your screen for I honestly feel you will say yes when you ask yourself. . .
Do I wanna read this?
