Turns the book over. . .
Karin is a cute little girl who also happens to be a vampire...with a twist. Once a month, she experiences intense bleeding from her nose - we're talking gushers! In other words, she is a vamp with blood to spare, so rather then stealing blood from humans, she actually gives her blood to them. If done right, this can be an extremely positive experience that benefits the "victim" as much as the vamp. The problem is that Karin never seems to do things right!
~Hatchi's Thoughts~ This review can possibly contain spoilers but I will try my best to not give too much away.
First off this book is in manga style.Yes that means you read it backwards, in Japanese right to left format, and yes that means it is in comic strip format as well. I personally love Japanese anime and Chibi Vampire was my first manga series.
We first meet Karin in her bedroom on her bed waking up. She realizes her heart is beating like a jack hammer. She knows full well what her heart beat means, her blood is increasing, yet this time it effects her in an unusual way.
In this tale of vampires we find that each Vamp has a preference in the blood they drink. We aren't talking type O or AB neg, we are talking about what emotion the blood donor is giving off right that moment. For example Karin's mother craves the taste of liers. Isn't that a thought. . . someone lies to you and instead of being upset you just drink their blood. Karin has found out what her preference is and now finds herself having to fight the urge not to nibble her friends who have no idea what she truly is or how they give off her favorite taste of emotion sometimes.
My favorite person in this series is Anju. She is Karin's little sister who has not quite yet come into her full vampire powers. She also doesn't have to drink blood . . .yet. She is my favorite for she is cool, calm and confident of herself. I see myself in her because she helps her big sister out a lot like I do with my big brother. She also has a really cool doll she carries named Boogie, who talks and is a smart mouth like myself.
These books are a pretty quick to read so if you are like myself and find you are going to want to own the whole series, 14 books as of Oct, you are going to be spending a lot of allowance but it is worth it. I recommend asking your folks to help you look at used book sites or stores.
This series has a lot of funny moments that will make you laugh, a good story line and even a little romance. Something for every tween out there.
So are you getting a nose bleed yet? Are you answering. . .
Do I wanna read this?
