Darkness Chosen Series book Four

Author - Christina Dodd
Title -
Into the Flame

Turns the book over. . .

Roaming the Russian steppes a thousand years ago, a brutal warrior struck a terrifying deal. In exchange for being able to transform into a heartless predator, he promised his soul-and the souls of his descendents-to the devil.
Brutally handsome cop Doug Black is determined to find the birth family who left him with nothing but a terrifying inheritance: the ability to change into a savage golden cougar. His search leads him to a woman as dauntless and exotic as her name. Firebird Wilder is bitterly familiar with supernatural gifts, and flees on discovering his secret, leaving Doug alone once more. But no one can escape a wild cougar on the hunt. When he finds her, they both must decide which is more powerful ... the love that binds them together ... or the secrets that threaten to tear them apart.

~Christi's thoughts ~ This review has the possibility to contain SPOILERS! As with every review I will try my best to NOT give TOO much away.

So is everyone ready for the final instalment of the darkness chosen series? Like I said in the begining this was the first book I read and the one that got me hooked on the series.

Firebird, one of the signs the pack with the devil was becoming weak. Why you ask? She is the daughter of Konstintine, the man who is to only have sons as per the deal with the devil. Our story starts a few years earlier then where Into the Shadows left off. Firebird is in college, has a wonderful boy friend who adores her, her finals are finally over but best of all Firebird has wonderful news she can't seem to find words for but is sending the proof home in the card she is sending for father's day. Life is just about perfect for Firebird till she is walking home alone from a party and feels she is being followed. Luckily she makes it into her dorm building and sneaks into her room leaving the lights off so she can go to her window to watch out and see if her stalker shows itself. Her instints were right but to her dismay the thing following her is a beautiful golden cougar. To her horror the cougar started to change before her eyes into a human male but not just any male , the cougar was her boyfriend Doug. Firebird is floored that the man she loves has turned out to be a Varinski. She feels totally stupid and hates how she was played for a fool.

We are now transported to present day and the moment when Firebird comes home to find her long lost brother in the house along with a woman she has no clue about. But her mind can't be bothered with it. She scoops her son up and uses the wall to slide to the floor with him in her arms. Her heart breaking at the news she is carrying. She has ben given blood proof that she is in no way the daughter of Konstantine and Zorana Wilder. Firebird's news sends the house into shock no one knowing how this can even be true , Zorana retells the story of Friebirds birth.

As firebird takes off to find Alex's daddy, Zorana and her sons head to the house of the midwife that was present when Firebird was born to question her and find out what truely happened that faitful night. they get the truth but it is not good news. Zorana's son is most likely dead.

Firebird found Doug's house and made herself at hoem waiting for him to return. Their exchange is one of shock for Friebird drops the fact he is the father of her son like a rock. After Doug getting a page from work that stops all foward motion between them Firebird's intentions were to leave but she recieves a phone call that makes her stay. Doug and Firebird play cat and mouse at dinner feelings from the past still fresh and blazing. Doug finally fills her in on his childhood and it matches what Zorana and her sons know. Doug has a few secrets of his own and you are never really sure what he is going to do. The only thing you are sure of is that he is Alex's father and he is Konstantine's son.

The ending of this epic tale is action packed so grab your cup of refreshment and get settled. I am leaving it to you to find out if the Devil wins or if Love and Good break the pact made long ago. I give kudos to Christina and thank her for a wonderful series that had me chomping at the bit for more. I lost many hours of sleep reading this series it sucked me in so entirely. So what are you waiting for. . .
